It's all about what the beads say. When I begin a new design, I go to my inventory of beads, take out two or three selections as the "main beads" and stretch them out on my bead organizer tray. Sometimes it takes me a day or two to decide which is calling to me the most urgently. I then go to my bead boxes again and decide if I want to add any contrasting beads or if any bead that pops to my attention might add to my design...then I get cracking. I very seldom finish a design on the day I begin with it. I like to put something together, and let the combination sit on the tray for a few days...looking at it between chores, or passing it on the way to the stereo. I often change the combination in some way with each trip, or decide I want it shorter, or longer or to have more zip or zing. My Winter work area is right by the stereo at the end of the living room; this is a great arrangement for me as I can listen to music or half-watch a TV show at the same time as I make my designs, and it is a warm room with a wood stove...very comfortable. When my eyes get tired, I can look out the bay window and watch the birds at our feeder. The combination of comfort and convenience really helps me relax and be patient with the design process and with the final assembly and finish work to insure it is well made and ready for it's new owner.

My design inspiration comes from the natural world. I use good quality beads and findings in my designs. I love using natural stone and semi-precious gemstone and natural items in my designs, and I have a deep love and admiration of lampwork, one of a kind glass beads...handmade with a torch one at a time. The vast majority of my findings and clasps are either sterling silver or gold filled, and I always give full details on what each design contains in my descriptions and supply lists. I prefer Softflex beading wire to any other stringing product and use it exclusively. I want my customers to be happy with their purchases. I try in every way to keep the costs of my designs affordable.
